The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Thursday that general elections will take place in Pakistan during the last week of January 2024.

The ECP stated that after reviewing the work on constituency delimitation, it was agreed that the initial list for constituency delimitation would be published on September 27.

The 54-day election schedule would be followed by general elections in the final week of January 2024, according to ECP, who also stated that the final delimitation list will be published on November 30.

The electoral board was forcefully urged by the political parties to reveal the election date.

The announcement comes a day after the ECP revealed it had invited political parties to a conference to discuss the general election code of conduct.

A draft of the code of conduct was made available to political party leaders beforehand, allowing them to offer comments more effectively during the consultation, the ECP spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
