As his wife Casey DeSantis defeats cancer, DeSantis claims that his prayers were answered

FLV TALLAHASSEE - On National Day of Prayer, Governor Ron DeSantis praised the prayer warriors for supporting his family while his wife, Casey DeSantis, Florida's First Lady, through her final radiation treatment last week.

DeSantis claims, "My family and I have personally seen the power of prayer over the past year. We were able to get through a very trying time because to the outpouring of love for my wife and our First Lady Casey DeSantis from all around Florida and the world.

And now that the first lady is cancer-free and had her final radiation treatment just last week, we can declare that those prayers had been heard, he continued.

Thank you to Florida's devout and pious citizens, and may we all pray that religious freedom may endure in our community forever. Since I am the governor, I can assure you that it will.

In October, Casey DeSantis' diagnosis was made public. In late January, she concluded her chemotherapy treatments.

DeSantis continued, "Last year, I signed a bill mandating a period of silence for reflection in public schools, which students and instructors can use for prayer.

DeSantis reaffirmed his numerous plans to enhance communication between the state government and Florida's religious institutions.

He said, "We formed the Governor's religion and community initiative office this past November to break down divisions between state agencies and civil society.

"A few weeks ago, I signed legislation to support fatherhood, increase funding for foster care, and support adoption into law, providing Florida with the strongest pro-life protections in a generation."
